Protecting our liberties as homeschoolers
I’m sure that most of you have heard of the recent ruling by the California Supreme Court, that homeschooling is unconstitutional. As most of you know, I am not even an American, and yet I am deeply affected and concerned by this ruling.
Back in the 1980’s, my mother-in-law was one of the courageous parents who fought for the legal right to home educate her children (it was not legal in Canada at the time either). My husband is the grateful recipient of her efforts and willingness to stand firm and fight to provide him with what she believed to be the best possible education (and we would agree, as fellow home educators ourselves).
If you are an American, I would strongly encourage you to visit Biblical Womanhood to read the post and the call to action written by her husband (and attorney) Jesse Paine.
If you haven’t signed the petition yet, here is the link to the petition from the Home School Legal Defense Association.
And whether you are American, Canadian or wherever you are from, please pray…
The king‘s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases.(Prov 21:1)

One more edit: If you are a Canadian, I would recommend checking out the Home School Legal Defense Association in Canada, to learn more about the legislation in Canada and the laws in the particular province where you live.
